Dr Disley joined the Surgery in October 2000 and has since developed a specialist interest in the management of Diabetes.
The Surgery provides an innovative, well-attended, Diabetes One-Stop Clinic on alternate Wednesday mornings and Viv Thomson, Deputy Practice Manager, oversees the appointments.
Patients visit Mr Chris Harrison (Chiropodist), Sr Samantha Walker/ Sr Sheila Anderson (Practice Nurses) and also have input from Dr Disley when required or requested. In addition, they are accompanied in the clinic once per month by a Diabetes Nurse Specialist from the Liverpool Diabetes Partnership. She provides expert advice in all aspects of Diabetes management.
Both Dr Disley and Nurse Sheila Anderson have received training in Insulin starts and titration. They have also developed the necessary skills for commencing and monitoring the newer injectable GLP-1 therapies.
Over the years, the Practice Nurses and Dr Disley have developed close working relationships with Consultants and Sr Vicky Alabraba, Diabetes Nurse Specialist at the Royal Liverpool Hospital and liaise with, and refer to, the Community Diabetes Nurse Specialists when they require input for Housebound or Care Home Patients.
